Simon Direen -  Director, Producer, Editor, Camera

Simon Direen is a dedicated filmmaker and welfare worker based in Melbourne, Australia. During his time studying at the Swinburne University of Technology, Simon’s previous films earned him a total of 5 awards. One of these films, the narrative short Disappear, made its world premiere at the Brooklyn Film Festival in June 2015 and received the Award of Merit in the Hollywood Best Shorts Competition in July of the same year. Simon’s work has also been shown at COMMFFEST Global Toronto and the Made In Melbourne Film Festival. Simon currently has a short documentary tilted ‘A Life Together’ which was completed early 2017. ‘A Life Together’ will be featured in film festivals in 2017/18. 

Robyn Szechtman  - Executive producer

Robyn has had over 25 years of working with marginalised communitiesas both a counsellor and arts project manager including over 10 years whilst working for the City of Port Phillip. Robyn is currently the Manager for the Voices of the South Side project at Port Melbourne Neighbourhood Centre where she also acts as a facilitator for courses designed to empower residents in social and public housing. Robyn is highly recognised for her social inclusion and community cultural arts processes and been approached to talk at conferences and write for journals and several academic books.


Nick Batterham - Sound Designer

Nick Batterham is a Melbourne musician and film sound designer. In the 1990's he was a major label recording artist, touring internationally and being nominated for an ARIA award in 1997. He then studied Bachelor of Film and Television at VCA, receiving the Nevil Shute script award for his final year film. In 2005, his AFC funded experimental short film The Audience was nominated for a Dendy Award at the Sydney Film Festival. He has since received two AFI/AACTA award nominations for his sound work in feature documentary and has twice won best sound at Flickerfest for his short film sound design.
