Simon Direen - Director / Producer / Editor
Simon Direen is a dedicated filmmaker and welfare worker from Melbourne. During his time studying at the Swinburne University of Technology, Simon’s previous films earned him a total of 5 awards. One of these films, the narrative short Disappear, made its world premiere at the Brooklyn Film Festival in June 2015 and received the Award of Merit in the Hollywood Best Shorts Competition in July of the same year. Simon’s work has also been shown at COMMFFEST Global Toronto and the Made In Melbourne Film Festival. Currently Simon is working on several non-fiction films all for release in 2017.
Merinda Brown - Producer / Assistant Director
Merinda Brown is a Melbourne based psychologist who dabbles in creative practice. She has spent the last decade working in the community sector where her work has focused on homelessness and mental health. She is interested in how the arts and community collide.
Matthew Cribb - Cinematography
Matthew Cribb is a cinematographer, director and photographer based in Wollongong NSW. Matthew has spent time working and living in Sydney and Melbourne before making the coastal sea-change. Matthew studied film-making at Open Channel in Melbourne, and photography at Melbourne Polytechnic. After working casually in the industry for a year or so, Matthew quit his day job in 2015, and made a sudden jump into full-time freelancing. Matthew works across a number of areas and mediums including directing music videos, shooting content videos and documentary, and both commercial and personal photography projects.
Adam Jolev - Cinematography (Interviews)
Adam is a Melbourne-based cinematographer. He has graduated from Swinburne University of Technology with a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma of Screen & Media (Film & TV), and in 2016, he completed his Bachelor of Film & Television, having wrote, produced, directed, shot, and graded a handful of short films. He has worked on numerous award-winning projects, and prides himself on being a stickler for capturing unique images with an engaging, captivating aesthetic.
Nick Batterham - Sound Designer
Nick Batterham is a Melbourne musician and film sound designer. In the 1990's he was a major label recording artist, touring internationally and being nominated for an ARIA award in 1997. He then studied Bachelor of Film and Television at VCA, receiving the Nevil Shute script award for his final year film. In 2005, his AFC funded experimental short film The Audience was nominated for a Dendy Award at the Sydney Film Festival. He has since received two AFI/AACTA award nominations for his sound work in feature documentary and has twice won best sound at Flickerfest for his short film sound design.
Mick Turner - Composer
Mick Turner is a Melbourne based musician and visual artist, guitarist for famed trio Dirty Three has also released several solo albums on Chicago label Drag City.
